Tesla Halts Production Lines Due to Global IT Outage

Tesla Unveils Robovan at We, Robot Event

Business Insider reported on Friday that Tesla halted production lines in Texas and Nevada due to the global IT disruption, citing sources familiar with the matter

According to an internal email reviewed by Reuters, Tesla informed its staff on Friday morning that it is “currently experiencing an outage with Windows hosts, servers, laptops, and manufacturing devices, where users are seeing a blue screen on their devices.”

The tech malfunction caused significant disruptions in industries such as finance and travel before services were restored after hours of disruption. This was due to a content update by CrowdStrike, which introduced a new tab for Microsoft Windows hosts.

In a post on social media platform X, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated, “We have just removed Crowdstrike from all of our systems, so there will be no rollouts.” He did not provide any further information regarding the impact of the disruption or specify which of his companies had taken action.

In response to a post by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella regarding the disruption, Musk stated, “This caused a seizure and opened a new chapter in the automotive supply chain.”
