Testing Sleep Timer Feature on YouTube Premium

YouTube Launches Affiliate Program in India with Flipkart

YouTube routinely conducts experiments with new features on its Premium tier

The most recent test involves a sleep timer interrupting the video after a predetermined time. Although it is not a revolutionary feature, it is still likely beneficial for individuals who prefer to fall asleep with extended podcasts or white noise playing in the background.

YouTube Premium users can activate this timer from this page on the desktop or through the “Settings > Try experimental new features” option on mobile.

Next, the video player’s Settings menu will display the Sleep Timer option. The timer can halt the video after 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes or until the video concludes.

A pop-up will appear on your screen when YouTube pauses playback, prompting you to extend the duration.

YouTube has been somewhat tardy in implementing this feature compared to its competitors. Spotify has been utilizing a sleep timer for some time, and TikTok initiated a sleep nudge experiment last year that was dependent on a predetermined bedtime.

YouTube’s experimental feature page indicates that the slumber timer feature will be accessible until September 2. However, the streaming platform is anticipated to make it permanent and extend it to free users.

YouTube’s prior experiments have included a lock screen feature to prevent accidental taps and an AI assistant that responds to inquiries regarding videos.
