Travala Taps Skyscanner for 2.2 Million Hotel Listings

Travala Taps Skyscanner for 2.2 Million Hotel Listings

With the integration of Skyscanner, Travala became the first travel platform native to cryptocurrency and had access to Skyscanner’s 110 million monthly users.

By connecting with the international Skyscanner marketplace, the cryptocurrency-focused travel platform Travala has significantly advanced the acceptance of cryptocurrencies.

Per an announcement, this is Skyscanner’s first application to be implemented with crypto-native capabilities.

The new alliance, according to Sanja Vukik, Skyscanner’s head of hotels, “underlines Skyscanner’s commitment to offering diverse payment methods to the growing needs of travelers.”

“By integrating Skyscanner’s market-leading search capabilities with Travala.com’s crypto-native platform, we’re making travel planning more accessible and flexible for the growing number of travelers who prefer alternative payment methods.”

With Travala available to Skyscanner’s more than 110 million monthly users, cryptocurrency and blockchain-based apps may significantly increase public awareness.

Cryptocurrency apps with “real” applications could encourage widespread use.

According to Justin Hyun, head of investments at TON Foundation, onboarding the following 500 million users will necessitate essential apps with “actual usability,” like Telegram Mini Apps, that might be a “Trojan Horse” for widespread adoption.

As the Travala CEO, Juan Otero, said, “The partnership will showcase the utility of crypto,” Travala might also imply a significant boost for mainstream Web3 adoption.

“Travel marketplaces like Skyscanner are the starting point for many during the discoverability phase for travelers, and having Travala featured on one of the world’s leading travel marketplaces will encourage curiosity that guides web2 users into the world of Web3.”

With an average of over 80 billion searches made daily on Skyscanner, more people may become aware of Travala’s cryptocurrency-powered travel platform.

Travel incentives in cryptocurrency rather than standard loyalty points

By allowing travel reservations to be made directly with cryptocurrency payments, Travala hopes to transform travel for cryptocurrency owners completely.

In contrast to other travel websites like Booking and Expedia, Travala allows users to make payments using more than 100 different cryptocurrencies.

Furthermore, according to Travala’s Otero, the company rewards tourists with cryptocurrency instead of conventional loyalty points.

“Travala’s key point of differentiation is a wider range of payment options for travelers around the globe. On top of this, Travala has an integrated crypto-based loyalty program that offers crypto rewards instead of traditional loyalty points.”

Travala is a 2017-founded travel booking website powered by cryptocurrencies that offers access to more than 2.2 million properties across 230 countries and booking services for more than 600 international airlines.
