Trump Mulls Appointing AI Czar

According to Axios, the White House is contemplating the appointment of “AI czar” by the incoming president, Donald Trump

If Trump were to appoint such a policy individual, they would be responsible for facilitating the coordination of federal regulation and the governmental application of AI.

It is crucial to emphasize that an AI administrator would not necessitate Senate confirmation, as noted by Axios. This would enable them to implement the administration’s objectives more promptly.

The AI czar position, which may be merged with a “crypto czar” position that the White House is also reportedly considering, would complement the agency chief AI officers established under President Joe Biden’s AI executive order.

Of course, Trump can eliminate those officers (and their offices) in favor of a more top-down governance approach.

No names have been proposed for consideration. However, Axios reports that the AI tsar position will be significantly influenced by the co-leaders of the extra-governmental organization DOGE, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
