Donald Trump, the next president of the United States, has named Jay Clayton, who used to be the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, as the US attorney for the Southern District of New York.

When he made the news on Truth Social on November 14, Trump said nice things about Clayton. He said he was a “highly respected business leader, counsel, and public servant.”

Trump said, “Jay will be a strong voice for the truth as we work to Make America Great Again.”

Clay was Chair of the SEC from May 4, 2017, to December 23, 2020.

During Trump’s first term as president, he put him forward as SEC Chair.

On January 20, Trump will become the 47th President of the United States.

Clayton will take over as Attorney for the Southern District of New York from Damian Williams. Williams has brought dozens of cases against crypto crooks for wire fraud and money laundering.
