According to President Donald Trump, a group of “extremely wealthy individuals” is preparing to acquire the short-form video application TikTok.
Trump said in a Fox News interview on Sunday morning:
“We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way, I think I’ll need probably China’s approval. I think President Xi [Jinping] will probably do it.”
A bill that would require ByteDance, the app’s owner, to either sell the app or face a ban in the United States has been repeatedly postponed by Trump.
In January, he stated that his “initial thought” was to establish “a joint venture between the current owners and/or new owners, in which the U.S. would receive a 50% ownership.”

Additionally, he has expressed his willingness to consider the possibility of the app being acquired by his allies, Larry Ellison or Elon Musk.

However, Musk is a less probable candidate at this time.
