Uber Eats introduces “Live Order Chat,” enabling merchants to message customers in real time about order issues, improving communication and accuracy.
Uber Eats announced on Wednesday that it will now permit restaurants and merchants to engage in conversations with consumers to mitigate order-related complications.
The app is also introducing new AI tools for merchants and is inviting users to submit photographs of their orders if the item does not yet have a menu image.
Merchants can now communicate with customers in real time to affirm replacements for sold-out items, clarify special requests, and inquire about dietary or allergy preferences. This is made possible by the new “Live order chat” feature.
Uber asserts that users cannot initiate conversations with merchants, as consumers can only message merchants after contacting them.
Live order chat is accessible for both delivery and pickup orders, and it concludes upon the transfer of the food to a courier or customer for retrieval.
DoorDash, a competitor of Uber Eats, announced the capability for merchants to communicate directly with customers to resolve order issues three months before introducing the new feature.
Uber Eats is introducing AI-powered summaries of customer evaluations to facilitate the comprehension of feedback at a large scale, as part of its new AI tools for merchants.
Additionally, Uber Eats is implementing AI-generated item descriptions for menus to assist users in making well-informed decisions when selecting an item.

Additionally, the application will employ artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance low-quality culinary images by improving lighting, resolution, framing, and plating.
For instance, Uber Eats may use artificial intelligence (AI) to produce a photo of the same dish on a plate if there is a food photograph in a delivery container.
Furthermore, Uber Eats will now promote the practice of taking a photo of their delivery. The company asserts that it is taking this action because it recognizes that consumers are more inclined to order a dish when they can visualize it.
Customers residing in the United States, Canada, Mexico, or the United Kingdom may receive $3 in Uber Cash if their photograph is selected and published.
After their order is delivered, users must select the “Add Photos” icon on the rate order screen to submit a photo.
