USDC has launched natively on Aptos, eliminating the need for cross-chain bridges. Circle’s cross-chain transfer protocol enables seamless USDC transfers across blockchains.
USDC has finally launched natively on Aptos (APT), two months after Circle first announced its arrival on the Move-based layer-1 blockchain. The first version in November 2024 included plans to add Circle’s cross-chain transfer system.
USDC on Aptos with Cross-Chain Transfer Integration
Circle has announced that the USD Coin and the ability to move it across different networks are now available on Aptos. This new launch lets users and writers use USDC directly, without needing cross-chain bridges.
Financial institutions and the Aptos community can directly use USDC for various uses, including decentralized finance, peer-to-peer payments, real-world assets, remittances, and gaming.
Aptos once used a version of USDC called lzUSDC. This version was not created by Circle but was transferred from Ethereum to Aptos using AptosBridge on LayerZero.
Now, with built-in support, bridge companies like Stargate, using LayerZero technology, will help users move from lzUSDC to the regular USDC.
Circle’s transfer system makes it easy to send USDC between different blockchains, just like the Wormhole protocol.
On January 30, Circle revealed that Aptos has included its transfer system, allowing developers to easily add USDC transfers to their apps with only three lines of code.
Some projects built on Aptos that use this feature are Cellana Finance, Echelon Market, Meso, and Thala Labs, among others.
