Renovate Robotics unveils the Rufus V1, a faster, lighter rooftop robot that automates shingle installation and will soon handle other tasks
The Rufus V1, the most recent rooftop robot from Renovate Robotics, was unveiled on Tuesday. The system further develops the prototypes that the New York-based company revealed earlier this year.
It automates one of the construction industry’s most prevalent and hazardous duties. The startup has made significant progress since our initial coverage in May 2023, when its robot comprised numerous DeWalt nail guns mounted to a gantry system.
Renovate Robotics asserts that this model is more precise and efficient than its antecedent despite being approximately half the weight. In contrast, the arm’s modular design enables the attachment of various end effectors to accommodate distinct duties. Rufus is currently limited to the installation of shingles. Additionally, future iterations will be capable of performing and removing solar installations.
