Waymo extends its cutting-edge Robotaxi service to Phoenix Airport, enhancing airport transportation with seamless curbside access
Waymo announced on Tuesday that it will begin providing passengers with 24/7 access to curbside pickups and drop-offs at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport terminals 3 and 4.
This announcement is yet another illustration of the Alphabet-owned company’s efforts to broaden its Robotaxi offering.
In November 2022, Waymo provided autonomous transportation to the Phoenix Airport; however, this service was limited to the 44th Street Sky Station, where there was an airport shuttle stop.
The company ultimately transitioned to curbside service, directly competing with driver services such as Uber, Lyft, and limousines.
The popularity of Robotaxi journeys to and from the airport has been demonstrated. Waymo announced this week that it will surpass 100,000 total journeys to and from the airport since the service was introduced in late 2022.
