WeTransfer Expiry Dates: You Can Now Extend

WeTransfer’s expiry dates frustrate users, especially creatives, who often forget to download files before links expire

The company is cognisant of the issue and is currently attempting to alleviate it by enabling recipients to modify the expiration date of files on their mobile application by implementing a new “Save for Now” feature. Nevertheless, it is not a complete solution.

The company subsequently clarified that the number of days to extend the expiration date would be contingent upon your plan. Links may also expire if users neglect to utilise the save option.

WeTransfer’s messaging failed to persuade users due to the false impression that it eliminated link expiration. To prevent the link from expiring, you must continue to take action.

Users can now save links sent to them to a distinct folder on WeWeTransfer’sWeTransfer to prevent link expiration. This feature, which resembles a bookmark icon, is found in the “Save for Now” Section.

If you cannot download the files promptly but wish to access them later without navigating your email inbox, the feature may be beneficial.

During our testing, we discovered that a free account allows users to extend the expiration date of a link on the app by up to seven days. The default is three days from the date of link creation.

We have requested clarification from WeTransfer regarding the limitations of date extensions for paid plans. We will publish an update to the story upon receiving notification.
