WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart responded vehemently to Elon Musk’s claims that the service exports user data every night
Cathcart clarified that WhatsApp prioritizes security by employing end-to-end encryption for users’ communications, which conflicts with Tesla’s CEO’s assertions.
Elon Musk commented on the Meta-owned organization in a post on X (previously Twitter): “WhatsApp exports your user data each evening. Some continue to believe that it is secure.
In response to Musk’s post, Cathcart said today that the data provided by the businessman was “inaccurate.” Additionally, he unequivocally declared that WhatsApp does not receive or “export” user data nightly.
In his reply to Musk’s post, Cathcart stated, “This is incorrect. Although numerous individuals have stated this, it bears repeating. We prioritize security measures, so we employ end-to-end encryption for your communications. They are not exported to us or sent to us every night.”
“You can utilize your cloud provider to create backups of your messages, and you can even employ end-to-end encryption for that purpose.” Then activate it by clicking here: “Cathcart further stated:.
In contrast, Elon Musk and Meta
Musk and Meta have been embroiled in numerous public disputes since Musk assumed control of X in 2022. The rivalry intensified further when Meta introduced its Threads application, directly challenging X.
Over time, the animosity between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, intensified to the extent that they engaged in a cage fight. However, after days of speculation and even a potential venue in Italy, the CEO of Meta canceled the match, claiming that Elon Musk had no intention of participating.
Musk rekindled discussions of a cage fight in response to a post on X, stating, “I am prepared to engage in combat with Zuck at any time and in any location, under any circumstances. LFG!!!”
