After adding Meta Llama3, WhatsApp announced on Wednesday that Communities can now organize events
This function simplifies creating events and gatherings directly in WhatsApp, such as organizing a PTA meeting or a birthday dinner.
A user-generated event feature allows all group members to observe and communicate with those who intend to attend. The event details are available to users on the group’s information page; attendees will be duly notified as the event date approaches.
Additionally, WhatsApp enables users to respond to messages in Announcement Groups, where community administrators distribute updates to all community members.
Replies are categorized to display the opinions of others without inundating users with notifications. This function enables administrators to receive messages from their members while maintaining ordered, clutter-free Announcement Groups.
WhatsApp introduced Communities in November 2022 to enable groups to remain connected, catering to neighborhoods, school associations, enthusiasts, and others.
Executives are granted the ability to merge a maximum of 50 groups. The company reports that communities and groups will continue to receive new features over the coming months.
Initially accessible to groups that are members of a community, the new functionality will progressively be implemented across all groups in the coming months.
