Apple’s keynote address at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference covered traditional operating system updates and introduced the company’s AI capabilities
Apple is establishing a distinction between these two sections due to the availability of Apple Intelligence features this autumn. This implies that the 18.0 release will likely need those features, as significant iOS updates are typically coordinated with new iPhone releases in September.
In the developer beta, which is currently accessible, Apple Intelligence features are also unavailable. It may be some time before we can sample them. This is why the current iOS 18 beta release appears to be the initial installment of a two-part television series: It is satisfactory; however, additional information is required.
In iOS 18, it is possible to relocate icons.
The marquee feature of iOS 18 is customization, achieved by removing Apple Intelligence. In other words, you can now relocate an increased number of keys. Initially, you can arrange the icons on your home screen in any manner you desire, and you may even leave certain positions empty.
This enables the development of various patterns using icons displayed on the screen.
To establish a cohesive aesthetic, it is possible to modify the colors of the icons. This eliminates the need to employ the cumbersome Siri Shortcuts workaround. In iOS 18, it is possible to convert to dark icons, apply a specific tint to them using a color palette, and increase their size (which will obscure the app name).
The tinted applications could be more visually appealing with specific colors, as they are still in their infancy. Apple has already enhanced the support for dark hue icons in specific third-party applications with the third developer beta.
The Control Center now offers a paginated experience. The default four pages are the standard controls page, media playback, home controls for smart devices, and connectivity controls. You can add or remove controls from each page and, if desired, create new pages. This facilitates the execution of rapid actions without necessitating the opening of specific applications.
The controls gallery has been updated to facilitate the search for controls and their effortless integration. Apple has granted third-party applications access to the Control Center, which will increase the number of applications that interact with their service through an icon.
The controls gallery is one of the most beneficial features of this update, as it allows users to replace the default icons for the floodlight and camera on the lock screen. Additionally, the action icon permits the selection of a new action.
