Worldcoin has announced that it will establish Argentina as its “regional operations center” and broaden its presence in the country and the broader LATAM region.
According to Criptonoticias, the media outlet that manages the WLD token, the organization intends to establish iris-scanning offices in “50 locations” across “more than ten cities in Argentina.”
Expansion Plans for New Worldcoin Argentina
Earlier this year, executives from Worldcoin convened with senior government officials in Buenos Aires. Additionally, they have engaged in discussions with President Javier Milei. These discussions have established the foundation for the forthcoming transition.
The representatives of the altcoin have scanned the irises of over half a million Argentines in a mere ten months.
Even though this has sparked a plethora of controversy among legislators and government regulators, lengthy queues have formed outside Worldcoin centers nationwide.
An unofficial Worldcoin reselling industry has also emerged, with numerous WLD recipients exchanging their coins for fiat at “50% of their market value.”
The organization intends to establish Argentina as the “nerve center” of its operations in the Latin American region.
Worldcoin officials also announced that two centers will be established to allow citizens to learn more about the initiative and the technology.
Worldcoin stated that the decision to concentrate on Argentina was made following a meeting with Milei in San Francisco, California.
Operator: Argentina is an Obvious Choice
Martín Mazza, the regional manager of Tools for Humanity, a Worldcoin operative, stated that Argentina was an obvious choice.
Mazza stated that the nation’s sophisticated “technological ecosystem” and highly qualified workforce rendered it “an ideal location for developing… artificial intelligence.”
Furthermore, Mazza declared that Buenos Aires will evolve into “a regional hub.” He further stated that Tools for Humanity is interested in “furthering its partnership with the Argentinean community.”
He stated that such an action would “further the advancement of financial inclusion and AI in the nation.”
The executive concluded that the decision to concentrate on Argentina “emphasized the strategic significance of Latin America for Worldcoin” as the initiative “aims for further growth.”
In addition to Argentina, WLD is rapidly acquiring momentum in other Latin American countries, including Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico.
Additionally, in April, the organization disclosed its intentions to expand its operations in Mexico, which it initiated in July 2023.
