Worldcoin Partners With Alchemy

Worldcoin revealed a partnership with Alchemy to build infrastructure for its blockchain World Chain, also the new home for its World ID and World app.

Worldcoin, the iris-scanning biometric digital identity initiative, and the Web3 development platform Alchemy have announced a new partnership to establish the infrastructure for the World Chain ecosystem.

Worldcoin disclosed on June 26 that its partnership with Alchemy will provide World Chain developers with immediate access to its exhaustive Web3 developer platform.

This encompasses a variety of tools, including indexing solutions, core and data APIs, and a suite of other resources that developers require to fuel their applications.

In addition, the tools incorporate an account abstraction infrastructure that will enhance the security and safety of self-custodial wallets within the World Chain ecosystem.

Alchemy will also incorporate World ID into its tool suite, providing millions of developers worldwide access to digital ID technology.

The human-centric blockchain

Noam Hurwitz, Alchemy’s engineering lead, stated to Cointelegraph that he is confident that the partnership will facilitate “substantial progress” to bring one billion users on-chain and expand developers’ opportunities to develop “human-forward applications.”

World Chain was initially introduced in April 2024 as a blockchain explicitly intended for human use. Tools for Humanity, a significant contributor to the World Chain ecosystem, has stated that it will collaborate with Optimism, Coinbase, and the broader Ethereum ecosystem as a component of the Superchain.

It is still awaiting migration from the OP mainnet and will serve as the new home for the World App and Worldcoin’s World ID, which users receive after completing a retinal scan at one of the many orbs worldwide.

Construction of extensive infrastructure for Worldcoin

The human-centric optimization of World Chain utilizes verified World IDs to allocate bearers priority block space and a free gas allowance for casual transactions. This approach aims to eliminate bots and provide developers with improved access to genuine users.

Steven Smith, the director of protocol at Tools for Humanity, stated to Cointelegraph that World Chain’s objective is to be the first blockchain specifically designed for humans and the largest on-ramp for humans to join the blockchain.

“With that comes the need for infrastructure that can operate at an extremely large scale.”

He emphasized that Alchemy’s expertise in “guaranteed uptime and reliability” for major enterprises was critical in his decision to partner with them.

Savannah Fortis, the presenter of the upcoming episode of Decentralize with Cointelegraph, will engage in a conversation with Steven to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Worldcoin and its vision for the future of decentralized digital identity on a global scale.
