X introduces new AI to help advertisers on the platform target and reach their audiences better and faster.
The business account for the social media platform X unveiled an artificial intelligence-enhanced feature for advertisers.
The platform announced the imminent arrival of its “AI Audience” feature on May 10. This functionality will enable advertisers to concisely describe the intended audience for a specific advertisement, after which X’s AI systems will instantly generate a pool of “the most relevant X users” in that particular target.
The text illustrated a user specifying “Technology Leaders” as the intended audience, accompanied by the description “users who are technology leaders.” The AI generated a catalog of hundreds of users in the target audience and demographic statistics in seconds.
Elon Musk, the proprietor of X, reposted the post without providing any further commentary regarding the development.
Conversely, one user replied to the initial post by asserting that this would revolutionize advertising and provide “value for your money” on the platform. However, he wondered if the AI’s ability to target audiences precisely.
Should AI demonstrate sustained efficacy in accurately identifying target audiences, this development may position X ahead of its competitors in the advertising sector, given that the latter platforms still need to research and target the appropriate audiences.
Other users, however, were concerned that the AI might perpetuate and reinforce prejudices and stereotypes.
Another user asked “to whom” and “what precisely X is selling.” “I assumed I was the one paying so X wouldn’t have to pimp me to brands and sell me to corporations,” said the user.
Although some skepticism was expressed, numerous users lauded the development as “exciting” and “really smart.”
This advancement coincides with Elon Musk’s proactive position regarding incorporating artificial intelligence into the social media platform.
Musk declared Grok, an artificial intelligence model developed by X, available to all premium X subscribers on March 26. Grok-1.5, the subsequent model iteration, was officially unveiled on March 29. A context length of 128,000 tokens and “improved reasoning capabilities” are purported characteristics.
Amidst a legal dispute between Musk and OpenAI, an organization with which he had previously affiliated, the proprietor of X, it was announced on March 11 that Grok would be released as an open-source project.
While Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) firm xAI has been diligently developing novel tools for widespread adoption, he refuted in January a report that xAI had secured $500 million of its $1 billion investment objective.
