Bloomberg reported on Thursday that Y Combinator, a Silicon Valley startup accelerator, will increase the number of cohorts it operates annually from two to four beginning in 2025
Y Combinator president Garry Tan informed the site that the number of companies passing through YC each year will remain consistent despite the change. Thus, each cohort will be approximately half the extent of recent years. Tan further stated that the presence of two cohorts results in twice as many demo days, which provides investors with additional time to engage with entrepreneurs.
The upcoming autumn program commences on September 29, just a few days following the Demo Day of the summer cohort on September 25 and 26.
TechCrunch has contacted YC to verify the information.
