Tap on the three-dot menu adjacent to the message or perform a long hold on any message you have sent.
Select the “Edit message” option to modify the message sent.
The messages are not subject to a time limit for editing, as indicated on a support page.

The social network also enforces the same restriction on the editing of posts.
Although X stated that it maintains a log of edited messages for security purposes, it does not currently display the version history of edited messages.
