YouTube Music said on Monday that users can now view their 2024 Music Recap to see information about their favorite artists, songs, moods, genres, and other things from the year
Every year, music streaming services reveal the songs that users have listened to the most throughout the year.
You can get to your 2024 Music Recap on YouTube and the YouTube Music app. You should see a banner that tells you to look at your recap. If you don’t, go to your name, click on “Your Recap,” and then tap “Get Your Recap.”
This year’s YouTube Music Recap has animated cards like the ones in Spotify’s Wrapped feature. Spotify made the year-in-review style popular, and other services like Apple Music and YouTube Music later copied it.
In previous YouTube Music Recaps, the pictures were static, but this year’s recap is more of an audiovisual experience that moves to the beat of your favorite songs.
YouTube Music is also adding three new statistics that will help users learn more about how they listen. Now you will get a unique list of the songs you’ve liked over the last year. YouTube Music might say that the music you listened to this year was “moody” or “amped.”
You can also see a calendar that shows important events from the year. You might read things like “January was your best month with Charli XCX” or “March was great, at least musically.”
YouTube Music will also create a unique persona for you, inspired by your favorite artists and songs, such as “The Hometown Hero,” “The Life of the Party,” or “The Hopeless Romantic.”
This year’s YouTube Music Recap also includes podcast highlights, showcasing your top podcast of the year and providing a list of your top five favorites.
A year-in-review playlist for Spotify and Apple Music should be out in a few weeks.
