ZachXBT Slams L1 Chain Block Explorers, Demands Overhaul

ZachXBT calls for significant improvements after identifying flaws in the quality of block explorers on multiple layer-1 blockchains.

In a September 5 X article, cryptocurrency expert ZachXBT discussed the subpar block explorers accessible for several layer-1 blockchains.

ZachXBT divided block explorers into levels in response to DeFiance Capital’s founder, Arthur, emphasizing the necessity for better onchain transaction tracking on different L1s outside Ethereum.

In his original statement, he stated that a “complete overhaul” was necessary for most explorers outside of the Ethereum ecosystem, which he deemed “okay.”

The positive

ZachXBT rated Blockchain, Mempool, and WalletExplorer for Bitcoin BTC$ 56,796 as “good block explorers” for tracking transactions, deeming them to be “acceptable.”

In response to a community inquiry about whether ZachXBT will create a “multi-chain block explorer,” the company stated that while the idea was “nice in theory,” many chains are “not worth building on” because of profitability.

But in a follow-up, he described one such project he would do.

“[The] only sort of analytics company I would ever consider building is private tools/data for compliance teams, LE, etc bc overall the crypto community is far too entitled to create products for in its current state.”

The “alright”

ZachXBT gave the block explorers on chains that support the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and are supported by OKLink, Solscan from Solana, and Bithomp from Ripple a “okay” but “not ideal” rating.

Tron “could be better” despite offering basic filters, although Solscan was seen more favorably because it could at least “filter for most information nowadays.”

“Ripple has Bithomp which has good attribution for services/exchanges.”

The unsightly

ZachXBT designated Cosmos, Bittensor, Hedera, Harmony, Algorand, Aptos, and Sui as the “bottom tier,” precisely characterizing Aptos and Sui as “not great.”

He criticized Sui’s “nonexistent” block explorer, SuiVision, in an X post from August 12 for several shortcomings, such as the “no way” to filter out spam transactions or “tokens, amounts, date/time, etc.”

While calling SuiVision “totally garbage,” he did concede that there might be “potential” if the “right updates” or “grants” are given to the appropriate teams.
