ZkSync Backs Sybil Filtering as Binance Provides ZK Airdrop

As Binance gets set for the ZK airdrop on the 17th of June ZKSync backs Sybil filtering decision to boost chances of all legit users getting more tokens.

It clarified that certain Sybils can implement sophisticated algorithmic strategies that are indistinguishable from those of human beings.

It was explained that they fund accounts from various exchange addresses, never interact with one another, use randomized sums, and employ software to randomize daily patterns of human behavior. They also engage in activities exclusive to the project, such as using zkSync paymasters.

“Real people, on the other hand, tend to concentrate most of their wealth in just a few accounts, making their balances much larger compared to bots,” it explained.

“There will be Sybils in every airdrop,” it concluded. “However, for every example of Sybil that can be identified, there are hundreds that were excluded.”

Binance offers ZK listing and distribution amid “ongoing concerns”

It comes as crypto exchange Binance has offered its own ZK airdrop — targeted at those who were not eligible for the official airdrop on June 17.

The exchange said it will offer 10.5 million ZK tokens to over 52,000 Binance users in “light of the ongoing concerns from the community around ZK token distribution.”

ZkSync asserted that excessive filtering could eliminate certain Sybils, but it could also falsely flag a significant number of organic users. Consequently, it opted to recompense organic users with a “high likelihood” by combining value scaling and multipliers.

In essence, this resulted in wallets with low funding receiving fewer eligibility points (a symptom of Sybil’s behavior). However, if there were on-chain behavior that indicated human behavior, wallets would receive a compounding boost.

ZkSync clarified that Sybils typically establishes numerous accounts, but it allocates modest quantities of cryptocurrency to optimize capital efficiency to each account.

On the other hand, “real people tend to concentrate the majority of their wealth in a limited number of accounts, resulting in significantly larger balances than bots,” it elaborated.

It concluded, “Sybils will be included in each airdrop.” “However, there are hundreds of examples of Sybil that were omitted for everyone that can be identified.”

Binance provides ZK listing and dissemination in response to “ongoing concerns”

It was announced that Binance, a cryptocurrency exchange, had implemented its own ZK airdrop intended for individuals not eligible for the official airdrop on June 17.

In response to the community’s ongoing apprehensions regarding the dispersal of ZK tokens, the exchange has announced that it will distribute 10.5 million ZK tokens to more than 52,000 Binance users.

Eligible claim addresses must have initiated at least 50 transactions on zkSync Era between February 2023 and March 2024, conducted transactions for a minimum of seven months, and not be a CEX, bridge, or contract address. Additionally, they must need more eligibility for the official airdrop.

Nevertheless, each user of Binance will receive a maximum of 200 ZK.

In addition, the ZK token will be available for trading on the exchange starting on June 17, with trading combinations including Bitcoin, Tether, and First Digital USD (FDUSD).

The ZK token airdrop is scheduled to commence on June 17. The ZK token is currently trading pre-market for 36 cents, as per Whales Pro.
