Google is introducing new AI-powered features to Maps in India, such as the capacity to search for experiences, AI-powered summaries, and weather alerts
According to the statement, the Maps application will evaluate evaluations and provide summaries of locations. The company made the announcement at its annual Google for India event on Thursday.
Furthermore, users will have the ability to look for items and experiences on maps, such as “themed birthday cakes” or “unique picnic spots,” in order to locate cake sellers.
The company stated that Google Maps will provide an image-first experience that prioritizes the display of photos that businesses and users have uploaded when individuals pose such queries.
Labels or descriptions of locations have been associated with such queries through image recognition by Google.
The company also announced that users will receive new weather alerts for low-visibility areas caused by fog and flooded roads during navigation.
Users in India will receive the collection of new features later this month. In February, AI-powered review summaries were introduced on Maps in the United States. In the United States, Yelp, Google’s competitor, also displays summaries of businesses on its redesigned feed.
In July, Google included various India-specific features in Maps, such as improved navigation guidance, improved navigation of flyovers (overpasses) and limited roads, EV charging stations, and community-powered lists for place discovery in specific cities.
