The WWDC 2024 event by Apple started today, and the company introduced some new tech and features.
Apple Intelligence
Apple is utilizing Apple Intelligence to improve its existing software by leveraging the power of generative models.
Capabilities will encompass actions performed across multiple applications, such as the seamless execution of duties on your behalf.
The company also disclosed privacy protections for Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute to assist users in maintaining control over their data.
Siri is becoming increasingly intelligent and will become more “personal, relevant, and natural.” Siri revisions were demonstrated to enhance the virtual assistant’s ability to cross-reference information and respond to conversational language, thereby increasing its utility to users. In addition to the iPhone, Siri’s modifications will be implemented on the Mac and iPad.
Apple Intelligence offers proofreading and revision capabilities, including summaries, editing, and tones, to assist you in writing emails and other documents. Additionally, a clever reply option will be implemented. Summaries will be included in emails, in addition to identifying priority communications.
Apple is also collaborating with ChatGPT, meaning Siri may access ChatGPT to enhance responses. However, it will first request user consent.
Emojis will also be included in Apple Intelligence. Using intuitive search language, these Genmoji can be generated in messages that cover various topics, concepts, accessories, and locations.
The Genmoji will be accessible in the tool palette of the Notes app, as well as in Keynote, Pages, and Freeform applications, in addition to messages. Additionally, a new dedicated Image Playground application will be developed.
Additionally, the Sequoia operating system incorporates numerous novel capabilities. Continuity will encompass “iPhone mirroring,” which enables iPhone notifications to appear on Mac in conjunction with Mac notifications. The iPhone app on the Mac can be accessed by tapping on the notification. However, the iPhone will remain closed, rendering it impossible for anyone to observe the content that is being mirrored.
Apple is introducing Highlights, a feature that utilizes machine learning to identify and emphasize pertinent information during browsing. Additionally, Safari has been updated with profiles and translations.
Additionally, their distraction-free option features a redesigned Reader feature that includes video viewing.
Additionally, Mac users will soon have access to more sophisticated activities. Ubisoft has verified that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” scheduled to be released later this year, will be available on Mac.
iPad 18
In addition to the changes announced last month, iPadOS will include several of the features announced for iOS 18, the intelligent script, adjustments to the Freeform app, and the calculator app’s eventual arrival on iPad. Additionally, they introduced Math Notes, a feature that incorporates mathematical functions into written notes and is compatible with the Apple Pencil.
WatchOS 11
The most recent software update for Apple Watch will introduce a redesigned watch face, a more intelligent innovative stack, and other features that will assist in monitoring your health and promoting physical activity.
Additional insights will be provided, and you can modify your summary pane and objectives based on the day of the week. Additionally, Apple is introducing a new Vitals application.
Machine learning can assist in selecting the most appropriate image for your watch face from your photographs.
The first significant software update for the Vision Pro device, Vision OS 2, was announced by Apple.
Train support in travel mode, adjustments to photo and video, and hand gestures for accessing notifications on the Mac virtual display or bringing up the home menu are among the updates.
Spatial photos can be generated from images already in the user’s camera library, and users can also share panoramas with others. Users can generate spatial content, and Apple has announced they are simplifying the process. Additionally, they are capturing spatial video for their immersive video feature.
Canon will also introduce a new lens that enables the capture of spatial video. It will be accessible this autumn.
Additionally, the Vision Pro will be accessible in more countries.
